Health Links (HL): Why is the health and wellness of your employees important to you?
Antlers at Vail (AV): There is a direct correlation between a healthy and happy staff, and a productive and engaged workforce. A happy staff results in happy guests.
HL: How will you/do you know your program is successful?
AV: We try and set company wide and individual goals for everyone. Not all our goals are easily measurable, but we receive direct feedback (mainly word of mouth) from our employees regarding their progress.
HL: What obstacles did you have to overcome to get your program started? How did you overcome them?
AV: The process of getting a program started was fairly easy, but we have been having some problems keeping our staff interested and motivated. The wellness survey that each employee filled out has helped us focus on topics that are of interest to them. We have also been able to create realistic and attainable goals for our employees and our business.
HL: Do you incorporate safety along with your wellness program? If so, what does this look like?
AV: Safety is important to our company, however we currently do not incorporate safety into our wellness program.
HL: What tip/advice would you give to a business that is considering starting a workplace wellness program?
AV: Be sensitive to the needs of everyone and do what you can keep them motivated.
