Certified Healthy Workplace™

Health Links (HL): Why is the health and wellness of your employees important to you?

Colorado Business Group on Health (CBGH): The health and wellness of our own employees embraces what we do as a company.  Our internal goals for health and wellness are completely aligned with our mission and values of better health and better healthcare.

HL: How will you/do you know your program is successful?

CBGH: Our small staff collaborates to select wellness events for our whole group, to support physical activities of each staff person, and to promote individual wellness.

HL: What obstacles did you have to overcome to get your program started? How did you overcome them?

CBGH: Our main obstacle was just setting aside the time to complete our application!  Once we did that, it was a quick decision to take even more time to promote our fall wellness activity: and everyone participated in our day of hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. We overcame these obstacles by making time to do the right thing. It just makes sense, so we came to our senses, and put our priorities in order!

HL: Do you incorporate safety along with your wellness program? If so, what does this look like?

CBGH: In regards to our hike, we did make sure that everyone was physically able to take the hike and had the right warm weather gear as well as sufficient water, snacks and an emergency kit.

HL: What tip/advice would you give to a business that is considering starting a workplace wellness program?

CBGH: It is important to make sure this is not some new drudgery! There are no downsides to being active, having fun, and embracing wellness!
