The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County is proud to bring together key community partners in a collective effort to improve the health and well-being of our local workforce while creating an overall culture of health in Manatee. DOH-Manatee, in partnership with the Manatee County Chamber of Commerce, Blake Medical Center, and Health Links at the Colorado School of Public Health, is offering Healthy Business Certification to support local businesses that offer health and wellness programs and resources for their employees. 

Through this collaboration, we hope to empower local businesses to implement employee wellness programs and recognize employers who are committed to helping their workforce be as healthy as possible.

Florida Health Launches Innovative Tool to Keep Adults on Schedule for Good Health

Tallahassee, Florida

The Florida Department of Health is encouraging adults to obtain health screenings and vaccinations, as appropriate for their age, to help maintain or improve their health. Today, the department released the Florida Health Preventive Screening and Immunization Schedule and Record. This tool provides a patient-centered schedule and record for health screenings and immunizations that are recommended for adults, age 19 years and older.

Manatee Chamber wants nominees for Champions of Healthcare Awards

Creating a culture of health, safety and well-being can impact a business' bottom line. Little things can make a big difference and getting started has never been easier, even for small businesses. The chamber is a partner with the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County and Blake Medical Center in the launch of Health Links Florida. We are the first community in the state to offer the online resources and business certification program of Health Links.

Public-private program helps employees stay healthy

The idea of workplace wellness isn’t new — programs started coming out in the 1980s and have increased in popularity as employers face double-digit increases in health insurance premiums each year. But in Manatee County, it’s not just individual businesses that are taking an interest in employee health. A partnership between the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Department of Health, Blake Medical Center and a Colorado-based program called Health Links is gearing up to help businesses improve employee wellness and, as a result, the overall health of the county.
